There are many ways to practice and improve math skills. Math problems are everywhere in every day life.
Not sure how to improve your math skills? Here are some suggestions for what you can do all summer:
Over the summer, you can continue to practice for math using Study Island. Try to earn a blue ribbon for each subject from the grade level that you just completed. You should be able to make it through everything. If you are having a hard time, remember to check the lesson and watch any videos that are available. If you need me to delete old sessions for you, please email me, and I would be glad to! (riske@wrightstown.k12.wi.us)
Keep practicing those facts with xtramath. Our class code is 568JMUN2. If you forgot your password, please email me. You could also make your own version of "zap it" and play with your siblings or friends. :)
Another great resource is Khan Academy. Remember to log in using your school email account. Similar to Study Island, you should be able to master all of the skills from the grade level that you just completed. If you get stuck, use the hints available and watch the videos.
Lastly, there are many opportunities for you to practice problem solving over the summer. Is your mom/dad/grandma/grandpa/aunt/uncle/neighbor having a rummage sale? Be the cashier. Are you going on vacation? Figure out costs for gas, food, drinks, admission, lodging, etc. Is it a rainy day? Play a board game or a card game that uses math. Are your parents doing some landscaping? Measure and calculate supplies needed. Do you need to get somewhere on time? You can figure out what time you need to start getting ready, what time you need to leave in order to get there on time, and how much time it takes to get there. The possibilities are endless!
Have fun and enjoy the math along the way! :)
