WI DPI Special Education Resource for Parents and Families
This above WI DPI link provides resources for Parents and Families from WI DPI regarding special education. All special education placement decisions are made by a group knowledgeable about the child, the meaning of evaluation and data, and placement options. The IEP team that participates follows the Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions requirements for a Local Education Agency rep (LEA), Special Education Teacher, and Regular Education Teacher. All roles are clearly defined on the IEP meeting invite. The IEP team includes additional individuals who are knowledgeable about the child. There is much thought and intention behind the IEP team members invited to participate in the evaluation and IEP meetings. Our Student Services Admin assistant leads the process of scheduling annual IEP meetings, and Special Education teachers schedule review/revise IEP meetings. All parties give input as to IEP team members, and our Student Services Admin Assistant also ensures that the required IEP team members are invited and attending. The required IEP team members are the LEA, Special Education Teacher, and Regular Education Teacher. Special Education teachers are trained and supervised in following the WI DPI requirements for IEP team meetings. Specifically, this means that special education teachers.
