Scholarship Information

All completed scholarship applications should be turned into the COUNSELING OFFICE several days before the due date listed below.  They will be reviewed, the counselor portion completed, a transcript attached and then mailed in.

Scholarships are available for COLLEGE and TECH-BOUND students - but you need to apply

Requirements:

To be eligible for a WEAC Scholarship, the applicant must:

Be a high school graduating senior planning to pursue an education major or minor and intending to be employed in the education profession in Wisconsin.

Be the child of a WEAC member in good standing. The applicant may also be the child of a person who died while holding membership.

The applicant must rank in the top 25% of his/her graduating class or have achieved a 0 cumulative grade point average (based on a non-weighted 4.0 scale) at the time of application. (All A’s = 4 points, B’s = 3 points, C’s = 2 points, D’s = 1 point, F’s = 0 points.) a. Or has shown exemplary involvement in community and/or school activities; b. Or has shown progress toward a higher GPA.

Requirements:

Candidates for this award shall be daughters, step-daughters, sons, step-sons, grandsons, step-grandsons, granddaughters, step-granddaughters, great-granddaughters, step-great-granddaughters, great grandsons, step great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion.

Requirements:

Must be a graduating high school senior accepted for admission to an accredited college or university.

Applicant must have a father, mother or natural guardian who meets the following qualifications: a. Parent must be a full-time paid member of the police or sheriff’s department or fire department. Parent/guardian may also be a volunteer member of a fire department. b. Parent or guardian must be an active duty police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or EMT (public sector). Children of administrative staff do not qualify. c. Children of DHS, FBI and other Federal employees do not qualify. d. Children of reserve officers, part-time sheriff’s deputies and retired, or deceased employees do not qualify.

Awards are based on a combination of academic achievement, national test scores, community service, extracurricular participation and the essay.

Requirements:

Must be a current High School Senior planning to attend FVTC after graduation.  Awarded scholarships may only be used at FVTC.

Engineering / Architecture Scholarships 3/15/2021 $1,000 yr. / 4 years
Requirements:

Applicant must intend to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Architecture.  Scholarships are awarded to recipients attending Milwaukee School of Engineering, Michigan Tech., University of Wisconsin Madison, Milwaukee and Platteville, Marquette University and the University of Minnesota.

Return the application with your financial forms to the Guidance Office by March 15th.

  1. Recipients are selected on the basis of:
    • Financial need as established by the Student Aid Report, which is generated by filing a FAFSA (https://fafsa.ed.gov/)
    • Academic achievement based on GPA and course rigor (ACT will not be considered in 2021)
    • Extracurricular activities, volunteer service, paid work, honors/awards, and leadership experience, as detailed by a resumé
    • Demonstrated academic motivation, personal growth, initiative and perseverance
    • Responses to 2 creative essays. There is also an optional essay question, which may allow you to be considered for other award. You can see the essay questions before you apply by viewing the Help & FAQ's tab on the CollegeReady scholarship website page.
    • Quality of character as described by one school-related reference
  2. The application must be 100% complete and submitted by the student through our online scholarship application. Your school reference and counselor verification must both be marked "Submitted". Incomplete or paper applications will not be considered. Deadline is strictly enforced.
  3. Applicant information is kept confidential; an anonymous screening committee will evaluate the applications.

It is the policy of CollegeReady to work directly and only with the scholarship applicant. This scholarship application must be completed by the student that is applying for awards. If CollegeReady becomes aware that the student did not complete the application, the student will be removed from scholarship consideration.

Technical School Scholarships 4/1/2021 Tuition & Fees
Requirements:

 NWTC Foundation will pay the tuition and fees, after federal and state financial grant aid and scholarships have been applied, for eligible students for six consecutive semesters (full or part-time; does not include summer semester).

Requirements:

Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

Describe your educational career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.
