TECHNOLOGY SERVICES TEAM MISSION

It is the mission of the WCSD Technology Services Team to provide high-quality, continuous, timely, and consistent support to ensure stakeholders have the appropriate tools for innovation and learning. The Technology Services Team is responsible for all IP, AV, and physical security technologies, end user devices and accounts, as critical data systems.

  • The Skyward logo features a stylized arc with blue lines and the word 'SKYWARD'.What is Skyward Family Access?

Skyward is the district's student information system. It is the central database for all student information. This is where parents can view official schedules, grades, report cards, food services balances. This is also where families will complete annual registration for students. Keeping family information accurate in Skyward Family Access is essential, as it is the system that feeds data to most other systems used by the school district.

  • The ParentSquare logo features a square outline with four colored circles inside.WHAT IS PARENTSQUARE

ParentSquare serves as the central hub for mass communication and school news at the building and district levels. This is also how inclement weather notifications are delivered. Stay informed about important announcements, events, and updates through ParentSquare.

    HOW WCSD USES PARENTSQUARE

WCSD communicates with families about important events, inclement weather, and emergency situations via ParentSquare. The type of communication will depend on the type of situation and user preference.

    Email

Email is one of the primary forms of communication through ParentSquare. Email is used to communicate school-level and district-wide news/events that are non-emergency in nature. Emergency alerts are sent via email in conjunction with other forms of communication.

    App

The mobile/desktop app is another primary form of communication through ParentSquare. The app is used for the same purposes as email. The ParentSquare mobile app is available for download for both Apple and Google devices.

    Text Messages

Parents are automatically registered to receive notifications when they enroll their student in the district. Text messages may be used as a duplicate form of communication when the district or individual schools send out posts or when individual teachers send a message to families using ParentSquare.

    Phone Calls

Phone calls are only used in elevated situations like emergencies, delays, or cancellations

  • The ClassLink logo features a blue cloud with a stylized figure inside.

    What is ClassLink?

ClassLink serves as a centralized digital hub for all students and staff to access the core applications they need to participate digitally. ClassLink can be accessed on any device, and it is often the only way to access certain digital resources due to the fact that district uses single sign-on.

  • The Google Classroom logo features a green chalkboard with people icons.Google Classroom is our district's primary digital platform (used instead of a traditional learning management system) where students access, complete, and submit assignments, read class announcements, and receive learning resources specific to their classes. We encourage guardians to  check in with their students and teachers to review their students’ accounts and see upcoming due dates.

    What are Guardian Summaries?
Guardian Summaries are email updates that provide you with periodic information on your student's activity within Google Classroom. These emails include details about missing work, upcoming assignments, and recent announcements posted by the teacher.

How do I get Guardian Summaries?
To start receiving these helpful updates, the process is simple:

    1. Teacher Invitation: Your student's teacher may send an email invitation to the email address you have provided to the school.
    2. Accept the Invitation: You must open that email (check your spam folder just in case!) and click the "Accept" button to confirm you want to receive the summaries.
    3. Receive Updates: Once accepted, you will begin receiving the summaries on a regular schedule (daily or weekly).

Important: Please ensure we have your current email address on file in Skyward Family Access. If the invitation expires (after 120 days), simply reach out directly to your student's teacher to request a new one.
